Ken Hocke BP is getting the last laugh with its new drilling permit

The Obama administration has so much egg on its face following the issuance of the first deepwater drilling permit since the Macondo (Deepwater Horizon) well disaster last April that it may have to go through a car wash to get it all off.

The Noble Energy well that was granted the first deepwater drilling permit since the Macondo blowout is co-owned by BP, which owns 46.5 percent, according to a New York Times article.

WHAT?

I was against the administration’s moratorium following the worst environmental disaster in history. I am, however, fully in favor of improving safety. There certainly should have been a way to improve safety on the deepwater drilling rigs in the Gulf of Mexico, while allowing rigs that were in compliance with the regulations already in place to continue to operate. That was never, however, a possibility.

Politics stepped in to gum up the works. Consequently, BP, public enemy No. 1 in the hearts of many Democrats, has just picked your pocket.
